About the Grief-Informed Training for

Community Providers


This four-part training series will equip community providers with knowledge and skills as to how you can support a grieving person child or adult within your professional setting. This training series is designed so that you can work at your own pace while also having access to monthly, live office hours with a CBC grief specialist to further advance your knowledge and discuss grief-related issues.


By enrolling in this four-part training series you will have access to this digital content for up to one year following enrollment and the ability to attend monthly, live office hours through Zoom with a CBC grief specialist. Please see below for additional information about the sessions provided and the curriculum.


Licensed Mental Health Counselors (LMHC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) and Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) in the state of Florida will also receive 6.5 continuing education credits upon completion of this four-part training.





Grief-Informed Training Certificate of Completion

Purchase of the four-part training series also entitles you to receive the Children's Bereavement Center's 'Grief Informed Training Certificate of Completion'. The certificate of completion designation indicates that the recipient has completed required coursework and live office hours through Zoom provided by the Children’s Bereavement Center and demonstrates knowledge and skills pertinent to compassionately supporting a grieving adult or child.

 

To receive the Children’s Bereavement Center’s ‘Grief Informed Training Certificate of Completion,' the following must be completed within a 12-month period:

  • Successful completion of all coursework and assignments within the Grief-Informed Training for Community Providers
  • Attend at least 2 office hours provided by the Children’s Bereavement Center



DISCLAIMER: THE CHILDREN'S BEREAVEMENT CENTER (CBC) GRIEF INFORMED CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION ENTITLES RECIPIENTS TO BE ELIGIBLE TO FACILITATE CBC-AFFILIATED PEER GRIEF SUPPORT GROUPS. ELIGIBILITY IS CONTINGENT UPON MAINTAINING AN ACTIVE STATUS MEMBERSHIP WITH THE CBC. THIS CREDENTIAL MAY NOT BE USED FOR SERVICES NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE CBC.

About Us


Children's Bereavement Center | Lift From Loss was founded in 1999 and provides free grief support groups for all ages 4+.

Session 1

This session will provide an overview theoretical understandings of grief, what grief is and what it is not, and practical tips and strategies for supporting a grieving child or adult. 


Session 2

This session will focus various types of traumatic losses, including suicide, homicide, substance use, and COVID-19. Trauma symptoms, differentiating between grief and depression, and post-traumatic growth will also be addressed.

Session 3



This session will provide additional skills and strategies to providing compassionate grief support. Active listening, meaning making, and grief-specific activities will be discussed.

Session 4


This session will focus on the importance of self-care for those providing grief support. Developing self-care strategies and understanding burnout/compassion fatigue will be addressed.


Office Hours


As part of this four-part training series, you will also have access to live office hours through Zoom with a CBC grief specialist.
